The day-to-day management  of ALTER-Net is the task of the Secretariat, based in Trondheim, Norway. Click here for contact details.

The Secretariat is supported by a Management Board and a number of other partners who are responsible for certain tasks. Some members of the current Management Board were previously members of the Network Management Group (see below).

The Network Council guides Secretariat and the Management Board. The Network Council consists of high-level representatives of each partner organisation.

ALTER-Net 2004-2009

The following information refers to the ALTER-Net project from April 2004- March 2009. For up-to-date contact information, please click here.

The main work of ALTER-Net from 2004 March 2009 was divided between 15 Work Packages. These together delivered the Joint Programme of Activities.

The day-to-day activities of the Network were managed by the Network Coordination Unit (NCU),  a small team at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. The NCU was managed by the Project Coordinator, Dr Terry Parr, and Deputy Coordinator, Dr Allan Watt. The NCU acted as the primary point of contact with the European Commission.

The NCU was guided by two Committees: the Network Council (NC), which consisted of high-level representatives of each partner organisation, and the Network Management Group (NMG), made up of the Work Package (WP) leaders, plus other ex-officio members.

The NMG was also advised by a panel external advisors, the Network Advisory Committee (NAC) (this membership list was valid January 2008- March 2009). The NAC was formed of representatives of major international stakeholders. The Secretariat for the NAC was run by the European Centre for Nature Conservation, through one of the Work Packages (WP I5).
