LTER-Europe

LTER-Europe is an initiative to develop a network of research and monitoring sites suitable for long-term studies of changes to ecosystems. It involves a wider group of partners than ALTER-Net. However, the development of such a network is a key aspect of ALTER-Net's work. LTER-Europe was formally established on 15 June 2007 at a meeting organised by ALTER-Net. ALTER-Net is developing the capacity for both conventional long-term ecological research and monitoring and socio-economic studies (through the development of network of Long-Term Socio-Ecological Research sites, or LTSER).
