Opp: Eurosoil 2012 - session 7.4 - call for abstracts & funding support
There is a call for abstracts for Session S7.4 at Eurosoil 2012 in Bari, Italy. The title of the session is: "Molecular dynamics of soil organic matter: challenges, opportunities and limits". The session organisers hope to bring together experts from different fields of Soil Organic Matter (SOM) research in its broadest sense, but focusing on the molecular composition of SOM and changes thereof. For further details, including instructions on abstract submission, please see the attachment.
While the conference is still far away, the abstract submission deadline is very soon: 30 October 2011. So if you would like to submit an abstract, do it now.
Thanks to generous support by the MOLTER network, the session organisers will be able to provide a financial contribution to (partially) cover travel and accomodation expenses for a limited number of early career scientists who wish to present in the session. Funding is provided by the European Science Foundation (ESF), the funding agency of the MOLTER network. The procedure is as follows:
- Eligible for financial support are early career scientists (i.e. PhD students or people in their first postdoc position) submitting an abstract for presentation in session 7.4 at the Eurosoil 2012 conference.
- Preference is given to scientists from ESF member states (these include most European countries. See http://www.esf.org/about-esf/what-is-the-european-science-foundation/78-member-organisations/full-list-of-esf-member-organisations-in-2011.html for a full list.). However, exceptions can be made in case of exceptionally promising work.
- Eligible scientists seeking financial support should submit their abstract for session 7.4 via the normal procedure (see www.eurosoil2012.eu).
- In addition, they should submit a separate e-mail message to session74eurosoil@yahoo.com. Please indicate your personal details in the message and state that you are seeking financial support. Please also attach your abstract once more so that we can easily match requests with abstracts.
- From the requests received, the organisers will select up to ten of the most promising abstracts in terms of scientific quality, novelty and fitting the scope of the session.
- The selected scientists will receive financial support in the form of reimbursement of their travel and accomodation costs incurred to attend the conference, to a maximum of 500 euros.
- The reimbursments will be paid directly by the ESF, after the conference is completed and upon submission of receipts that justify the costs claimed.
