On International Biodiversity Day, ALTER-Net is at high level MAES conference

The chair of ALTER-Net's Management Board is attending the MAES conference in Brussels today

Today (22 May 2014) is International Biodiversity Day, and our Management Board chair, Prof. Allan Watt (CEH) is in Brussels at the European Commission's  high-level conference, which aims to highlight the policy relevance of MAES: Mapping & Assessment of Ecosystems & their Services in Europe.

The conference is a platform to present the work undertaken to date at EU and Member State level as well as contributions from key stakeholders. It will demonstrate how reliable, high-quality information on the state of ecosystems and the services they provide can contribute to the advancement of biodiversity objectives, and to the integration of natural capital concerns into key EU sectoral policies.

For details see: http://ec.europa.eu/environment/nature/knowledge/ecosystem_assessment/index_en.htm. A live web stream is available, and you can also follow on Twitter (#MAES).
