A Long-Term Biodiversity, Ecosystem and Awareness Research Network

The ALTER-Net consortium welcomes the Institute of Social Ecology, Vienna (IFF) as a new partner of ALTER-Net. IFF has already been an integral partner during our first 5 years period and is now officially joining the ALTER-Net consortium. IFF expertise lies especially in interdisciplinary research where it looks at the interactions between society and nature within the framework of sustainability science, effectively linking the concepts from social and natural science. IFF also has a strong land-use research component and works with the concept of Human Appropriation of Net primary Production (HANPP), an indicator of land-use intensity and the human domination of ecosystems. ALTER-Net is absolutely convinced that IFF will be a valuable partner helping ALTER-Net with reaching its goals. Per today Alter-Net consists of 23 partner institutes. Welcome IFF!
