The Belgian Biodiversity Platform is presently seeking to reinforce its team by hiring an Biodiversity scientist with a social or socio-economic background. In particular, we seek a Dutch-speaking colleague with the following profile and qualifications:
- excellent networking and communication skills in English are absolutely required; a good knowledge of Dutch is a must; a working knowledge of a second national language is a bonus;
- enthusiasm and an outstanding ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team are required;
- applicants should hold a university degree (PhD or MSc with experience) in any field linking social and economic sciences to biodiversity; experience with ecosystem services or environmental research or policy is an advantage.
- candidates should master the usual informatics tools; some knowledge on database applications is an advantage.
The successful candidate will be confided the following tasks:
- network within the Belgian biodiversity research and policy communities;
- contribute to the development of tools and initiatives to promote communication amongst scientists and between scientists and decision-makers, in their field of expertise (incl. thematic forums, especially related to the issues of Ecosystem services and ES valuation, and climate change and biodiversity);
- support the development of the platform’ website and information interface
- support the work of the platform as Belgian node of DIVERSITAS, the EPBRS and GBIF, as appropriate.

We envisage offering a contract with duration undetermined, at the level of “scientific attaché” (scale A165/166).
