ALTER-Net has organised Summer Schools annually since 2006, typically in late August to early September. To date the schools have been held in the remote hill village of Peyresq, Alpes de Haute-Provence, France. The aim of the schools is to contribute to durable integration and spread of excellence within and beyond the network, with a view to promoting interdisciplinary approaches to the study of ecosystems. The Summer Schools provide a unique opportunity to explore interdisciplinary ecosystem research with like-minded post-graduate students, young scientists and expert tutors mostly from Europe.
